About Bradbury Mountain Campground

Bradbury Mountain State Park is one of Maine's original state parks, covering roughly 800 acres of forested land in Pownal, on Route 9 about halfway between Portland and Lewiston-Auburn and a short drive west of Freeport. The centerpiece is Bradbury Mountain, a low glacially sculpted summit of about 486 feet with a short trail to an open ledge with views toward Casco Bay. The campground is a wooded drive-in area near the park entrance off Hallowell Road, with about 35 individual sites plus group tent sites, each with a picnic table and fire ring. The park is widely used for hiking, mountain biking, and an annual spring hawk watch.

Natural Features and SceneryBradbury Mountain is a small, glacially shaped wooded mountain in southern Maine, set on about 800 acres of forested land. Although only about 485 feet high, it is known for sweeping views, especially toward Casco Bay, and for a quiet woodland setting with wooded descents and scenic overlooks.
