Best Time to Camp at Cedarville State Forest

Spring is the best time to visit. Daily highs run 55–75°F from April through May, with nights in the 40s and 50s. Wildflowers peak in the understory, and spring migration brings warblers and thrushes through the canopy. Trails and the fishing pond are comfortable before summer humidity settles in. By late May, ticks and mosquitoes become persistent. Multiple campers report pulling dozens of ticks off themselves and their dogs after hikes, and mosquitoes thrive in the humid forest from June onward. Summer afternoons are shaded but sticky. Expect moderate crowds on May weekends, but weekdays stay quiet.

Birding and new growth make spring attractive; reviewers note excellent wildlife but also rising tick activity.
