No potable water, no hookups, no facilities of any kind means hauling in everything. The Catahoula Ranger District office is also currently understaffed, so don't count on reaching anyone there for help before you go.

Fall brings the best conditions: daytime highs in the mid-50s to mid-70s, nights in the 40s-50s, and far lower humidity. Mosquitoes drop off dramatically compared to summer. Wildlife activity and hunter presence both peak in autumn. Winter stays comfortable, with temperatures between 40-60°F and dry air. Summer climbs toward 90°F with thick humidity.
