Anglers, packrafters, and tent campers who can arrive midweek will get the most out of it. The boat ramp doubles as a put-in for a 10-mile Class III run, and the river pools here are clear enough to swim and wade-fish in summer.

No potable water on-site means hauling in everything you'll drink and cook with. Add zero cell service, first-come-first-served booking, and five sites that fill on summer weekends, and it's a bad fit for anyone who needs a confirmed spot or a safety net.

Summer is the primary camping season, with daytime highs in the mid-70s to low-90s and nights dropping to 45-60°F. The river runs lower and clearer than during spring runoff, making it easier to launch boats or wade-fish. Mosquitoes are present. Bring DEET. The five developed sites fill on summer weekends, so midweek visits or early arrivals work better. Winter temperatures can drop to 16°F, and spring brings higher, murkier water from snowmelt.
Summer is primary season; warm days, swimming, boating and clear river make summer ideal.
