<p>Visitors to this 5-site developed campground marvel over the picturesque bird’s eye view of the world renowned Chattooga River. Situated along the west fork of the river, this area offers isolation and adventure all in one. Visitors often comment they feel as though they’ve been swept back in time and are looking out onto the great frontier of the past when enjoying the area’s treasured scenic views. Come explore and enjoy such adventures as camping, fishing, hiking and canoeing!<br /> </p>
The elevation is 660 ft. The campground is on the site of Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Company 3435, Camp F-16. The CCC camp was active from 1938 to 1942. Several cement foundations remain. The adjacent picnic area contains a developed wading area on John's Creek. The campground is located among hardwoods with some sites adjacent to John's Creek. Camping sites are well separated and spacious.

From Villanow, GA, take State Rt. 136 for 0.3 miles to Pocket Rd. Turn right onto Pocket Rd. and go 7 miles to Pocket campground sign. Turn left into campground.

Mid-October brings peak fall color, with daytime temps in the mid-50s to low-70s and nights dropping into the 30s–40s. Trails dry out, bugs thin, and the creek runs clear for fishing. The campground stays open all year, but weekends fill quickly in fall.
