Best season: fall. Fall offers the campground's most dramatic scenery—peak leaf color frames Rock Creek and the ridgelines from mid-October into early November, with comfortable daytime highs typically in the mid-50s to mid-60s F and crisp nights in the 30s–40s. Hiking, photography, and trout fishing are at their best with cooler water and clearer skies, while insect activity drops off significantly. Expect weekends to be busier (leaf-peeping), but with only eight sites the campground still feels secluded compared Peak months: October, November, May, April
Fall is 'most dramatic'; peak leaf color mid-Oct to early Nov is highlighted as a top draw.
