The elevation is 145 feet. This attractive campground is a long single loop in a stand of Fan palms, Longleaf pine and Live oaks. The dense middlestory provides excellent privacy between sites while the overstory offers lots of shade. Although County Rt. 314 can be busy with traffic sites are far enough away that traffic noise is not distracting. Lantern poles are found at each campsite. The entrance gate is locked at 8PM. This is bear country; practise safe food storage technique. It is also alligator country; practice caution around water especially with small dogs.

Overview
In the stillness of the morning fog, a red-shouldered hawk calls out with an echo across Fore Lake. Bounded by marshes, this lake in a scrub ecosystem is an excellent spot for birding from the shores of Fore Lake Recreation Area, where visitors can picnic and swim, or make a night of it in one of the 31 campsites tucked away between the saw palmetto and oak trees.
