Go if

Winter paddlers and anglers get the best of it: calm canal water, tolerable temps, and ten angled water-view sites with direct boat access. Self-contained setup helps since the bathhouse is up a steep hill from those canal spots.

Skip if

ATV and motorcycle noise from across the canal runs day and night with no fix in sight. Add the no-pets rule, zero cell service, and a pattern of cancellations from rain or burns, and some visitors have also noted the atmosphere felt less friendly than expected.
