Best season: summer. Summer offers the most reliable weather and the longest window for activities — warm, sunny days (roughly 50°F to 90°F) and cool nights in the 40s make it ideal for boating on Blue Mesa, flatwater fishing, group campfires under the cottonwoods, and day hikes. Water-based recreation and wildlife viewing are at their peak, though afternoon thunderstorms are common in July–August so plan outdoor activities for mornings. Expect higher visitation on holiday weekends (July/August) but plenty of space/ Peak months: July, August, June, September Avoid: October, November, December, January
Open mid-May to Sept; summer provides best weather, boating, fishing and hiking access.
