Best season: fall. Fall offers the most reliable, comfortable weather for groups — expect crisp mornings in the 30s–40s°F and warm, sunny afternoons around 55–75°F — with lower river flows that make fishing and swimming more pleasant. Trails are drier and bugs are reduced, so multi-day hikes and group activities feel easier and cleaner, and campground crowds thin noticeably after Labor Day. Autumn also brings pockets of color along the river and mixed-conifer edges, creating scenic evenings around the fire pit for Peak months: September, October, May, June Avoid: November, December, January, February
Fall provides most reliable conditions: cool mornings, warm afternoons, clearer lower river.
Camp 4 Group Campsite and Day Use Area is a developed group camping site designed for parties ranging from 2 to 35 individuals. It features essential amenities like picnic tables, fire pits, and a restroom with vault toilets. Garbage pickup is included as part of the site services. Campers are explicitly requested to stay within the campsite boundaries and avoid spilling over into the adjacent day-use area. The day-use area behind the group campsite is publicly accessible from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., but camping is not permitted. Visitors are reminded not to impede the natural water flow of the river as it is essential for the river's health.
