No potable water on-site means carrying everything yourself from Happy Camp, 12 miles out. RVs can't use this place at all, and anyone expecting flush toilets or garbage service will be disappointed fast.

<p>The Sulphur Springs Campground is the starting point for the Elk Creek Trail. This trail is a main route into the breathtaking beauty of the Marble Mountain Wilderness. One of the main attractions of Sulphur Springs Campground is a warm springs located along Elk Creek. The temperature of the springs is approximately 75 degrees and can accommodate five or six people at one time! All 6 campsites are walk-in, approximately 50 yards from the parking area.</p>

Fall brings the best conditions. Daytime temps typically run 50-75°F in September and October, with nights dropping to the mid-30s to mid-40s. Bugs thin out dramatically compared to summer, and crowds disappear. Late-season wildflowers still bloom, and wildlife activity picks up as animals prepare for winter. Wildfire risk drops compared to late summer. Winter lows hit 31°F. Summer can reach 95°F, making the 75°F spring feel especially good after a hike.
