Road access has blocked at least one reviewer entirely due to private roads, and there's no potable water, no cell service, and no way to reserve a site. With only four spots, driving 28 miles from Weed to find it full is a real risk.

Orr Lake is a popular fishing area with a beautiful view of Mt Shasta. The lake is the home of trout, bass, and catfish. A scenic trail along the east edge of the lake provides access to several fishing jetties and connects the 4 campsites on the east side of the lake with the 4 double sites on the north end of the lake. A boat ramp on the east shore and a hand-launch boat ramp on the north end also provide easy access to the lake.

Summer brings the warmest and most reliable conditions, with daytime highs in the mid-60s to upper-70s°F and cool nights dropping into the 40s–50s°F. This is peak season for swimming, boating, and shore fishing, when trails and lake facilities are fully accessible. The elevation means you'll want layers even in July. Weekends see moderate crowds, but with only four sites and plenty of forest, it's easy to find solitude.
Warmest, most reliable season; peak for swimming, boating and fishing per overview.
No water available so bring enough water for drinking, cooking and washing as well as extra water to drown campfires each day.
