Groups can't use this at all, single occupancy only. No potable water on site means hauling everything 38 miles from Wrangell, and emergency services are that same 38 miles away if something goes wrong in winter or spring.

Summer is the clear winner here. Daytime highs run 50-65°F from June through August, with extremely long daylight hours that extend your fishing and exploration time. Salmon runs peak mid-summer into early fall, making this the best window for anglers. Mosquitoes are thick, and rain showers roll through regularly, but conditions are far more reliable than the rest of the year. Winter brings snow and a quieter atmosphere, though access becomes more challenging. Spring sees temperatures rise and constant rain that feeds the explosive growth of moss and ferns.
Best season: 50–65°F, extremely long daylight and peak salmon runs mid-summer.
The Thoms Creek Crossing Campsite offers basic amenities. Restroom facilities are available; however, potable water is not provided, so campers need to bring their own water.
