Best season: summer. Summer offers the most reliable access, thawed trails, and warm daytime weather (typically 60–75°F with nights in the mid-30s to mid-40s), making it ideal for hiking, fishing, mountain biking, and extended wildlife viewing. Streams and meadows are green, wildflowers peak by late June–July, and the Horse Creek drainage is at its most scenic while water is readily available at the site (mid/late June–mid September). Crowds are generally low to moderate compared with lower-elevation tourist spots,— Peak months: July, August, September, June Avoid: April, May
