Fall brings the best combination of weather, scenery and reduced crowds — hardwood ridges around East Lynn Lake explode into color (peak usually early to mid-October) while daytime temperatures are crisp and comfortable (roughly 50–70°F) with cool nights (30s–50s°F). Hiking, shoreline fishing, wildlife viewing and scenic drives are at their peak as humidity drops and biting summer insects fade.
