Best season: fall. Fall offers the best combination of comfortable weather, fewer bugs and crowds, and excellent fishing and boating as Lake Roosevelt calms. Expect daytime highs generally in the 60s–80s°F in September with cool nights in the 40s–50s°F, making mornings crisp and ideal for hiking and wildlife viewing. Water access stays excellent for boating and shore fishing, and camp traffic drops noticeably after Labor Day, giving the campground its quiet, solitary feel. Peak months: September, August, June, May Avoid: October, November, December, January
Fall is standout: cooler temps, fewer bugs and crowds, lake still accessible in September.
