Large rigs will have trouble with tight roads and a layout with no turnaround, and there's no dump station on-site. Serious anglers should know jetski and motorboat traffic gets heavy in peak summer, and restrooms have drawn complaints about needed upgrades.

Reserving early for mid-to-late summer and holidays like the Fourth of July pays off. The park fills up for fireworks viewing, and swimming and boating conditions peak. Fall delivers fewer crowds and scenic foliage. The park stays open year-round with heated restrooms, but water shuts off mid-October through mid-April, limiting non-utility sites. Winter camping restricts day-use restrooms while campground facilities remain available.
