The elevation is 3,800 ft. The campground is a single loop in a grove of grand old Tamarack (Western Larch) on Lost Lake. Separation between trees and a grass understory give the campground an open airy feel but little privacy. About half the sites are doubles making this campground good for large families or small groups. An eagle and loons can be seen at Lost Lake. None of the campsites are on the Lake but a few have views of water. The 5 Lakes Recreation Cabin, the campground's water spigots, and adjoining Youth Camp's structures were built in 1941 by Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). For your information - there are only four lakes today, the fifth dried up years ago. This is bear country; practise safe food storage techniques.
