Tent campers without hookup needs won't get much value here. Reviewer sentiment has been slipping recently, so if you're visiting outside summer, temper expectations, winter scores a 2/5 and the lake draw fades fast.

Best season: summer. Summer is the best time to visit Long Point Campground because Summersville Lake is at its warmest and most active — expect daytime highs around 75–85°F and water temperatures in the upper 60s to mid-70s by July/August. Boating, swimming, cliff-jumping/photo stops at the lake, and peak bass/striped bass fishing are at their best, and long daylight hours maximize time on the water. Weekends can be busy (especially July–August), but weekdays stay pleasant and offer full access to lake recreation. Peak months: July, August, June, September Avoid: January, February
Summer is best: lake temps ideal for boating/swimming and peak recreation season.
