Lake campers expecting water activities will be disappointed: levels are low enough that kayaks are the only realistic option and swimming is off the table. The sticker burrs are relentless, which is a real problem if you're bringing dogs or young kids who'll be rolling around in

Fall delivers the best balance: daytime highs in the mid-60s to mid-80s, mornings dropping into the 40s and 50s. Grasses turn golden, and you can hike, bike, or boat without the oppressive summer heat that can hit 110°F. Spring brings comfortable temps too, though holiday weekends see heavier crowds. Winter offers crisp, clear days ideal for exploration. Summer is brutal but doable if you stick to water activities and early morning outings. Plan around your heat tolerance.
Fall offers best balance: mild highs, cool mornings, golden grasses—recommended season.
