Best season: fall. Fall offers the best balance of comfortable temperatures (daytime highs typically 65–85°F, nights 45–60°F), lower humidity, and vivid late-season color in the Hill Country grasses and cedar-lined ridges. Lake waters are calm and cooler, making fishing, boating, and lakeside hikes especially pleasant, while bugs and algal growth decline. Crowds are generally moderate — busy on fall weekends but quieter midweek — so it's ideal for both active days on the water and peaceful wildlife viewing. Peak months: October, November, April, March Avoid: July, August
Fall called the most comfortable season: mild temps, fewer bugs, calm lake and praised by reviewers.
