Best season: fall. Fall offers the best balance of weather, solitude, and peak scenery — expect crisp, clear days (daytime highs roughly 50–70°F) and cool nights (30–45°F) that make lakeside hiking and shoreline fishing especially pleasant. Mosquito activity drops and the lodgepole pine and alpine-meadow edges take on late-season color, while recreational boating and trail access remain good through mid-September. Crowd levels fall off after the busy summer months so you’ll usually find easier parking and open mid Peak months: September, August, July, June Avoid: October, November, December, January
Overview notes fall as best balance of weather, solitude and scenery; mosquitoes drop off.
