Take 199 to Cave Junction, Oregon. Turn onto OR-46 (a Chevron gas station is on the corner). Follow OR-46 for 20 miles to the Monument and Preserve.

Fall offers the best combination of comfortable weather, dramatic canyon color, and fewer visitors — daytime highs typically run in the 50s–60s°F with crisp nights dipping into the 30s–40s°F. Trails and canyon viewpoints are at their most photogenic as conifers and mixed hardwoods take on autumn tones, and cooler conditions make hiking and wildlife viewing (elk/deer activity) more pleasant. Crowds are lighter than summer at this 17-site first-come, first-serve campground, but be aware of fall, a Peak months: September, October, June, May Avoid: December, January, February

Cave Creek Campground offers basic amenities situated in an old-growth forest setting. The campground has fire rings at each campsite, potable water accessible near the pay station, and vault toilets available for campers' use. Maximum vehicle length is restricted to 20 feet, making it unsuitable for large RVs or trailers.
