Summer offers the most reliable access and the warmest daytime temperatures at 7,400 ft (typical highs ~65–85°F, nights often 35–50°F), making hiking and back-to-basics camping comfortable while still being noticeably cooler than low-elevation deserts. Trails, viewpoints and the mature ponderosa/juniper/oak forest are at their most inviting, and long daylight hours are ideal for exploring and stargazing; expect afternoon monsoon showers in July–August so plan hikes for mornings. Crowd levels are Peak months: July, August, September, June Avoid: November, December, January, February
Summer temps 65–85°F make it comfortable; open during summer months.
New Canyon Campground in Cibola National Forest offers basic amenities suitable for tent and RV camping. "Each site is equipped with a table and campfire ring with grill." There are "accessible vault toilets" in the campground, but "drinking water is not available in the campground; visitors must bring their own supply." Utility hookups are not available, and parking spurs are paved.
