This was once the site of a mill and farmstead. The mill is now gone, but the stone house of its original owner, built in 1846, is still located at the site. The house is on the National Register of Historic Places. It has three camp-sites and a picnic shelter, and is also a canoe access point and near the North Country Trail.

Spring offers the best combination of mild weather, high water for paddling, and peak wildflower displays along the creek. Expect daytime highs roughly 50–70°F and cool nights around 35–50°F from April through May. Water levels from spring runoff make canoe access and creek exploration especially good, and hiking the North Country Trail is most pleasant before summer insects and heat build up. Summer brings warmth suitable for paddling. Autumn delivers color in the canopy. Winter turns the landscape icy and beautiful, but freezing temperatures limit appeal for most campers.
Authoritative note: 'Spring offers best combo: mild weather, high water for paddling, wildflowers.'
