Go if

Horse campers who self-contain completely will find a quiet, low-traffic loop with prairie and woodland trail access right from camp. Summer and fall score highest, and the long daylight hours suit extended rides.

Skip if

No showers, no flush toilets, no hookups, no potable water on site. Campers who need any of those, or who are coming for swimming, will be frustrated on both counts. The lake is shallow, silty, and widely panned for swimming.
