No hookups, no showers, and a hand-pump well are the whole amenity package. At $33 flat-rate first-come, the walk-in riverfront sites go fast on summer weekends and there's no way to reserve them in advance.

The Pines Loop (campsites #501-599) is located on the opposite side of the county road from the East and West loops. Most sites are generous in size and are shaded by a variety of deciduous and conifer trees. There is direct access to the trail system. All sites have 20- and 30-amp electrical service.

Summer is the clear choice. Daytime highs typically land between 75 and 85 degrees, with nights cooling into the 50s and 60s. The river warms enough for wading, paddling conditions are reliable, and you can use the full range of trail access. North Country Trail, Fife Lake Loop, and forest roads for biking. Wildlife viewing peaks at dawn and dusk. The campground is small and walk-in sites are limited, so expect moderate competition during summer weekends.
