No potable water on-site and the pit toilets are flagged as potentially unusable. Add active falling-snag and flash-flood hazards from a burned zone plus a rough unmaintained road, and anyone without solid wilderness self-sufficiency should look elsewhere.

Summer brings daytime highs around 60–75°F and nights that drop into the 30s–40s. Wildflower displays peak during these months, and long daylight hours make extended hikes feasible. Trails are accessible, though you should check fire restrictions during dry stretches. Winter dumps deep snow and shortens the days, transforming the site into a backcountry winter destination for those with the skills and gear. Spring and fall are transition seasons. Beautiful but unpredictable.
Open seasonally from 7/1; cool days, wildflower displays, and long daylight favor summer use.
