Overview

About the campground

The elevation is 2,800 ft. Campground is pack it in, pack it out. If host is present, only nine sites available for campers. The Canadian border is about 6 miles north on US Rt. 95 at Eastport, ID. Robinson Lake is on one side of campground and Gillon Creek is on the other. The hiking trails (see Hiking Comments below) are easy with some interpretations. They take the hiker into a wilderness-like setting - a must exploration while at the campground. There is also good bird-watching from Wood Ducks and Heron to Stellar's Jay and Chestnut-Backed Chickadees.

Robinson Lake is 60 acres. Power boats are limited to electric motors. There is a boat ramp located 0.5 miles south of campground on US Rt. 95. Hiking: Water, Woods and Wildlife Trail (loop - foot) - 1 mile Robinson Lake Trail System - 4 miles (several trails - foot) Fishing: Rainbow and Brook trout, bass and Sunfish One hike the authors enjoyed greatly was through the Roosevelt Grove of Ancient Cedars. The Water, Woods, and Wildlife Trail at Robinson Lake campground was very pleasant too. But then, there are miles and miles of trails to hike and the authors were able to explore just a few. Contact the Ranger District Office for information about all the other trails in the forest. Kaniksu National Forest 263

There is an RV waste station available for a fee at the Chevron gas station on US Rt. 95 at north end of Bonners Ferry, ID.

Directions

From Bonners Ferry, ID, take US Rt. 95 north 24 miles to campground sign (Forest Rt. 448). Turn left onto Rt. 448 and follow signs to campground.
