Families after a clean swim beach on one of Iowa's clearest lakes will find this ideal. The accessible bathrooms and large parking lot make it easy, and walleye, pike, and bass are all in the water if someone wants to fish off the ramp.
Overnight camping is not available here at all. Anyone searching for a place to pitch a tent or hook up an RV needs to look at a different park entirely, such as Gull Point a few miles away on the same lake.

Pikes Point State Park is situated on West Lake Okoboji in the Iowa Great Lakes region and is home to one of the most popular swim beaches in the area. The park provides a nice setting for family picnics with several picnic tables and beautiful lake views. A CCC-era stone shelter is available for booking special events through the park reservation system under Gull Point State Park. After-hours fishing is permitted between 10:30 p.m. and 4 a.m., with all fishing done from the bank in designated areas; vessels are not permitted on the lakes after 10:30 p.m. A gift shop operates from Memorial Day Weekend through the third Sunday in October, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., selling souvenirs, firewood, snacks, beverages, and camping supplies.

Summer delivers the best conditions, with daytime highs between 75 and 90°F and overnight lows in the 60s. July and August bring comfortable water temperatures for swimming and boating. The Fourth of July weekend draws the heaviest crowds. Arrive early on summer weekends or visit on weekdays for easier parking and quieter beach access.
