Best season: fall. Fall offers the best combination of comfortable weather and scenic payoff — daytime highs typically sit in the mid-60s to mid-70s°F with crisp nights in the 40s–50s, making lakeside camping pleasant without summer humidity. This is peak foliage time (especially October–November), ideal for boating on calmer waters, shore fishing, biking the rolling foothills, and wildlife viewing as animals prepare for winter. Crowds drop from summer highs on weekdays, so you get great scenery and recreation but Peak months: October, November, April, May
Fall called the best window: cooler temps, foliage, less humidity and quieter stays.
