Best season: fall. Fall offers the best combination of comfortable temperatures (daytime highs typically 60–80°F, nights 40s–50s), lower humidity, and clearer skies for boating and fishing on J. Strom Thurmond Lake. Water remains warm enough for early fall swimming and paddling, while shorelines and nearby hardwoods show good color for hiking and wildlife viewing. Crowds thin after the official peak season (ends Sept 7), so you get quieter campsites and easier boat-ramp access without losing most lake-based summer Peak months: October, November, April, May
Spring is highly rated with pleasant weather and good access to trails and lake activities.
