<p>Bow River Campground hosts 13 campsites and is located on the upper Medicine Bow River. The campground is located next to Bow River in a heavily wooded forest of Lodgepole and Spruce pines and some young Aspen. The sites are well separated with heavy understory and middle-story which provides privacy. The campground is quiet and tranquil. <strong>This is a pack-in pack-out campground. No trash service in the area.</strong></p><p>OHVs can explore the Campbell Lake Loop after July 1, approximately 9 miles south of the campground. Pick up a motor vehicle use map for free at the Ranger station in Saratoga or call to have one emailed to you.</p><p>Nearby hiking trails include Rock Creek, Sheep Lake, and Crater Lake.</p><div class="usa-alert usa-alert--info usa-alert--slim"><div class="usa-alert__body"><p class="usa-alert__text">This site was approved for a fee change - <a class="usa-link" href="https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/mbr/fire/?cid=FSEPRD1092198">Click here for more information</a></p></div></div>
The elevation is 8,340 ft. The campground is located next to Bow River in a heavily wooded forest of Medicine Bow National Forest 217 Lodgepole pine, spruce, and some young aspen. The sites are well separated with heavy understory and middlestory which provides privacy. The campground is quiet and tranquil. Visit the Brush Creek Information Center just east of North Brush Creek Rd. on State Rt. 130. The information center was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) between 1937 and 1941. Formerly Brush Creek Ranger Station, it is currently on the National Register of Historic Places.

The parking aprons are dirt. There is an RV waste station in Saratoga, WY - located on State Rt. 130, 0.8 miles west of the North Platte River bridge on the left side of Rt. 130. The fee is $2 and there is no potable water.
From Saratoga, WY, take State Rt. 130 east 20.1 miles to North Brush Creek Rd. (Forest Rt. 100). Turn left onto Rt. 100 (dirt) and go 19.8 miles to Bow River campground sign. Turn right into campground. NOTE: Forest Rt. 100 is intermittently a narrow two-lane or single-lane (with turnouts) road.

<p>Welcome to Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests and Thunder Basin National Grassland! Visitor opportunities abound on almost 2.9 million acres of National Forest System lands.</p> <p>The Medicine Bow and Routt National Forests provide year-round recreation opportunities for you. These activities include hiking, biking, camping, horseriding, OHV riding, fishing and hunting, just to name a few. Beautiful vistas await sightseers and photographers.</p> <p>The topography varies greatly within the national forests. Elevation ranges from 5,500 to 12,940 feet. The climate ranges from semi-arid at low elevations to colder and less arid in the high country. Frost may occur at any time, and visitors to the higher elevations should be prepared for harsh weather, including snow and high winds, even during the summer months.</p> <p>The Thunder Basin National Grassland provides unique opportunities for recreation, including hiking, sightseeing, hunting, and fishing. There are no developed campgrounds; however, dispersed camping is allowed. Elevation on the national grassland ranges from 3,600 to 5,200 feet, and the climate is semi-arid.</p> <p><strong><strong>The following recreation conditions report includes a sampling of our recreation sites. Best season: summer. Summer offers the clearest window to experience the high‑elevation beauty of the Snowy Range when the campground is officially open (July 1–Sept 7). Expect mild, mostly dry days with daytime highs commonly in the upper 50s to low 70s°F and cool nights dropping into the 30s–40s°F, perfect for hiking alpine meadows, fishing trout in the Bow River, mountain biking, and watching elk and marmots.
