Best season: summer. Summer offers the best combination of accessible trails, warm daytime temperatures (typically 65–75°F) and the longest window for hiking, biking and creek-side fishing; nights cool to the 30s–40s which makes for comfortable camping. Trails into Vasquez and Byers Peak are fully snow-free by mid-July and wildflowers peak in late June–July, while creeks hold healthy trout populations for anglers. Expect moderate crowds on weekends and plan activities for mornings to avoid frequent afternoon thunder Peak months: July, August, September, June Avoid: December, January, February
Summer is the best recreation window; comfortable days and clear trails by mid‑July.
St. Louis Creek Campground offers a rustic camping experience with 18 non-electric single-party units, picnic tables, metal fire rings, bear-resistant food storage lockers, vault toilets, drinking (potable) water, trash service, and an on-site campground host.
