You need level sites, shower facilities, or water spigots distributed throughout the campground.
Context for the broader area surrounding Hodgdon Meadow Campground, sourced from the federal Recreation.gov rec-area record.
Not just a great valley, but a shrine to human foresight, the strength of granite, the power of glaciers, the persistence of life, and the tranquility of the High Sierra. First protected in 1864, Yosemite National Park is best known for its waterfalls, but within its nearly 1,200 square miles, you can find deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, a vast wilderness area, and much more.
You can drive to Yosemite year-round and enter via Highways 41, 140, and 120 from the west. Tioga Pass Entrance (via Highway 120 from the east) is closed from approximately November through late May or June. Hetch Hetchy is open all year but may close intermittently due to snow. Please note that GPS units do not always provide accurate directions to or within Yosemite.

Best season: fall. Fall offers the best balance of weather, solitude, and scenery at Hodgdon Meadow — days are cool and clear (typically 50–70°F) with crisp nights dipping into the 30s–40s, making hiking and photography comfortable without summer heat. Meadows take on golden tones, trails are quieter than Yosemite Valley, and wildlife viewing (deer, migratory birds) and late-season fishing are at their peak. Crowds are noticeably lower than mid-summer, though weekend and holiday traffic can still be moderate, and袜 Peak months: September, October, July, August Avoid: November, December, January, February
Fall called the 'sweet spot': cooler days, golden meadows, thinner crowds and comfortable hiking temps.

Hodgdon Meadow Campground, located within Yosemite National Park at an elevation of 4,875 feet, offers a variety of family and group sites amidst a forested setting. Each campsite features a picnic table, fire ring, and a bear-proof food storage locker. Roads and parking spurs are paved. Flush toilets are available, and potable water is accessible at the restroom buildings. However, no showers or hookups (electric, water, or sewer) are provided.
