The elevation is 3,300 ft. The campground is an oblong loop stretching along State Route 120 in a stand of Ponderosa pine and manzanita bushes. One area has parallel parking and three tent sites. Although sites are spaced out, a lack of understory means little privacy between sites. Bear-proof containers are provided. The nearby Yosemite National Park is a good daytrip. Firewood available for a fee.
Open April 27 through October 1
The parking aprons are dirt and gravel. RV waste stations, with no potable water, are available for a fee at Yosemite Pines RV Park, 5.3 miles west on Old Hwy 120, and Yosemite Lake Preserve, 10.4 miles east on State Route 120.
From Big Oak Flat, CA, take State Route 120 east 15.9 miles to a tent symbol sign. Turn left after sign into campground.

Best season: spring. Spring offers the best combination of mild daytime temperatures (typically 60–75°F / 16–24°C) and cool nights (40–50°F / 4–10°C), making hiking and riverside relaxing comfortable. Snowmelt increases flows on the South Fork Tuolumne, highlighting scenic river stretches and nearby waterfalls while wildflowers and renewed growth after recent fires reveal broad views and accessible trails. Crowd levels are lower than peak summer, especially in late April–June, so you can enjoy quieter campsites and— Peak months: May, June, September, October Avoid: November, December, January, February
Spring called the 'sweet spot' by reviewers; mild days, cool nights, highly recommended.
