Best season: fall. Fall offers the best balance of comfortable weather and classic Sierra‑foothill scenery — expect pleasant daytime temperatures in the 60s–80s°F and crisp nights in the 40s–50s°F. Golden grasslands and oak groves are at their most photogenic, trails are dry and stable for hiking and biking, and wildlife viewing is excellent as animals move before winter; lake boating and late‑season fishing are also very good. Crowds are lower than midsummer, especially midweek, giving you the solitude the Wildt Peak months: October, November, April, May
Spring brings emerald-green grasses and strong scenery; good for hiking and wildlife viewing.
