Best season: fall. Fall brings the most comfortable weather and the clearest conditions for hiking and wildlife viewing — expect daytime highs in the mid-50s to mid-70s°F and crisp nights dipping into the 30s–40s (especially in October). Monsoon storms are over, creek levels are mellow for fishing and creekside relaxation, and the ponderosa and mixed-oak slopes show subtle autumn color without the summer crowds. Cooler, stable weather and lower fire danger make trails and wilderness approaches to Salome and Sierra Peak months: October, September, May, June Avoid: November, December, January, February
Open April onward; pleasant spring temps and strong creek flows support hiking and nature viewing.

Reynolds Creek Group Campground offers a rustic camping experience with simple facilities. According to the authoritative description, the site includes two large ramadas, eight picnic tables, a group grill, a large metal campfire ring, and one vault toilet. There is no running water or trash disposal on-site as noted in both the authoritative sources and user reviews. "No trash disposal place or water. It is a beautiful place though for camping," as mentioned by user Valentyna Kelley. The nearby Reynolds Creek runs year-round and offers wading, fishing, and hiking opportunities. The group camping area is shaded by towering ponderosa pines, and a large meadow provides space for group games and activities.
