Trash accumulation and long-term residents give sections a worn-out feel that bothers a lot of reviewers. No water, no dump station, no cell signal, and a looming mining project that could close or fundamentally alter the site.

There is an abundance of large oak trees that provide natural shade. The surrounding area is known for its numerous recreation bouldering opportunities. Families and individuals like to come to this site for its natural desert beauty and rock climbing.</p>
The elevation is 4,200 ft. The campground, located near Devils Canyon and along the Gila-Pinal Scenic Route (US Rt. 60), is pack it in, pack it out. It is rustic with sites scattered in cedar and Live oak. Most sites have communal-like parking which allows for parking tow vehicle next to a travel trailer. An interesting thing to do from this campground is to visit the Besh-Ba- Gowa Archaeological Park in Globe, AZ (about 15 miles east on US Rt. 60). It is a site where the Hohokam first established a pit-house settlement around A.D. 900 and abandoned it about 1100 A.D. Later, around 1225, Salado Indians began constructing the pueblo seen today.
The parking aprons are dirt and irregular. Low branches in upper part of campground may obstruct some high profile RVs. An RV waste station is available at the Texaco station in Globe, AZ. From Superior, AZ, take US Rt. 60 east 4 miles to campground sign (Magma Mine Rd.). Turn right onto Magma Mine Rd. and go 0.4 miles to another campground sign. Turn left at sign into campground.
