No potable water, no toilets of any kind, and OHV riders sharing the trails frustrate campers expecting peace. If road noise or roughing it without any facilities is a dealbreaker, this first-come free site will disappoint.

Fall brings the best mix of pleasant conditions and scenery. Daytime temps run 55–75°F, nights drop to the 40s–50s, and oak foliage peaks through October. Mosquitoes fade, trails cool down, and fishing stays good on the lake. Weekdays are very quiet. Peak leaf-viewing weekends in October draw more visitors but remain far less crowded than developed campgrounds. Winter is cold and quiet. Summer works for lake activities but brings humidity and occasional afternoon thunderstorms.
Fall called the best season: pleasant temps, peak oak foliage, fewer mosquitoes and great hiking/fishing.
Brock Creek Lake Recreation Area offers primitive camping facilities with minimal amenities.
