Eligible military families and DoD personnel who want waterfront access without paying waterfront prices. Summer is the sweet spot: lifeguarded beach, boat rentals, three pools, and white perch biting off the pier. Sites handle rigs up to 60 feet on paved pads with full hookups.
Civilians can't book here at all, so eligibility is the first filter. Winter ratings drop to 2/5 and the beach, pools, and boat rentals all shut down seasonally, leaving a quiet waterfront with little programming for those who need activity beyond fishing and walking trails.

Welcome to the beautiful and inviting Navy Recreation Center (NRC) Solomons. The scenic vistas of the Chesapeake Bay's waterfront are a part of daily life here, and a big reason why this has proven to be a popular and most-sought after location for vacations for our proudly serving military members and their families for years. Nestled on a peninsula bounded by the picturesque Patuxent River and the Chesapeake Bay in an area you will soon agree is aptly called "the land of pleasant living," the bay and its rivers play an influence on the local lifestyle, including the choice in leisure pursuits.
Physical Address for NRC Solomons: 13855 Solomons Island Road, Solomons, MD 20688 FROM WASHINGTON, D.C.: Take Interstate 495 to exit 11A. Follow Route 4 South for approximately 75 miles. The Navy Recreation Center Solomons is located in Solomons, MD on the right-hand side just before the Thomas Johnson Bridge. (Trip Time: 1½ hours.) FROM BALTIMORE, MD: Take Interstate 695 south to Route 2 South. Route 2 will turn into route 4 South. Follow for approximately 50 miles. The Navy Recreation Center Solomons is located in Solomons, MD on the right side just before the Thomas Johnson Bridge. (Trip Time: 2 ½ hours.)

Summer is the best time to enjoy NRC Solomons Area F because the Chesapeake waterfront is fully active — staffed swimming, boating, and peak fishing make it a true waterfront paradise. Expect daytime highs generally in the mid-70s to high-80s F (75–90°F) with warm bay water temperatures ideal for swimming and launching boats, though humidity and afternoon thunderstorms are common. Weekends and holiday periods (Memorial Day through Labor Day) are busiest, so book early if you want a waterfront or Peak months: July, August, June, September
