Hayden Fork Campground sits at 8,888 feet along Forest Road 116 near the WY-150/UT-150 corridor. The river is the main draw. Clear, scenic, and close to the sites. Facilities are clean and the atmosphere is quiet, though experiences with the camp host can vary.
Weather and SeasonsBest season: fall. Visit in fall for crisp, quiet days and peak aspen color — daytime highs are commonly in the 40s–60s°F with nights often dipping below freezing (20s–30s°F) by October. Trails and lakes are at their most scenic for hiking, biking, and shore fishing while summer crowds thin out. Be aware that hunting seasons can overlap (late September–October), so wear bright clothing and check local forest service dates before heading out.
Peak months: September, August, July, June
Avoid: November, December, January, February

Natural Features and SceneryThe Hayden Fork river runs through or near the campground, giving most sites water access. Aspens blanket the surrounding slopes and turn gold in fall. The elevation keeps things cool, and wildlife. Including moose. Wander through camp, especially at dawn. The scenery is what brings people back: forested, alpine, and noticeably quieter than lower-elevation campgrounds.
