<p>King Creek Campground is situated in a ponderosa pine forest, adjacent to Tropic Reservoir and the East Fork of the Sevier River. It is approximately 9 miles west of Bryce Canyon National Park. Access is provided by an improved gravel road. This campground provides paved sidewalks at select sites to provide improved accessibility.</p><p>Kings Creek is a favorite of ATV enthusiasts because of its easy access to a large network of trails. The Fremont ATV trail passes within 1/4 mile of the campground and the Great Western Trail is nearby. Hiking and mountain biking trails are plentiful as well, with access from various points within the campground. Tropic Reservoir offers boating, canoeing and fishing for brook, rainbow, brown and cutthroat trout. A boat ramp is within 1/2-mile of the the campground. The East Fork Sevier River is nearby with good fishing opportunities. They both have great views of Hoodoos from the bottom and the top. They also have beautiful overviews of Tropic Reservoir.</p><p>There are six OHV loop trails that are accessible from the campground. The group area is isolated from the main campground and provides privacy for gatherings and events. All individual sites are managed on a first come, first served basis. A large covered pavilion with picnic tables is also included with the group site to provide shade and cover from the weather. Flush toilets and drinking water are provided. The campground and reservoir are reached via a well-maintained gravel road with good access for cars and RVs alike.</p><p><span style="font-family: 'verdana','sans-serif'; color: #333333; font-size: 9pt"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
The elevation is 8,000 ft. NOTE: The campground is also known as King Creek campground. The campground, within walking distance of Tropic Reservoir, is composed of two loops in the shape of a figure "8." It is tucked in among Ponderosa pines with an understory that tends to be rocky and dirt with patches of grass. None of the camp sites overlook the reservoir. Privacy between camp sites is fair and the campground is pack it in, pack it out. ATVs are permitted in the campground. Nice day trips are exploring the Bryce Canyon National Park (about 20 miles away) and the Red Canyon hiking and mountain bike trails (about 12 miles west on State Rt.12). Dixie National Forest 261

From Tropic, UT, take State Rt. 12 west 7.6 miles to Kings Creek campground and Scenic Backway signs. Turn left at Scenic Backway sign onto gravel road and go 7 miles to campground sign. Turn right at sign and go 0.8 miles to campground.

Best season: summer. Summer offers the best combination of mild mountain weather and full access to activities—expect daytime highs around 65–80°F and cool nights 35–50°F at 8,000 ft. Boat and fish on Tropic Reservoir, run the Fremont ATV and Great Western Trail, and hike or bike in shady ponderosa stands while all campground services are open. Trails and reservoir recreation are at their peak, though weekends and holidays can be busy so reservations are recommended.
