Cabin bookings on a budget: the deluxe cabin mattresses draw consistent complaints, so bring extra bedding or adjust expectations. South Loop is open year-round but has the worst cell service and closest-together sites, and yellow jackets are a real nuisance all peak season.
Compare with similar sites, watch availability, and build a packing list — Camp Sage handles all of it.
Fall delivers the best camping window here. Daytime temps hit 55-70°F, nights drop to the 30s and 40s, and crowds thin after Labor Day. The Deschutes cools down and trout get active, making it prime fishing season. Golden grasses, crisp air, and long evenings under clear skies make hiking and wildlife viewing especially good. Most facilities stay open (Middle Loop through October 15, North Loop through October 1, South Loop year-round). Summer warms to 85°F with cool evenings. Winter gets cold (25-37°F) but the park stays accessible. Bring yellow jacket traps during peak season. Multiple reviewers mentioned needing them.
Fall described as the best window: cool days, active trout and thinner crowds after Labor Day.
