Best season: fall. Early fall (especially September) offers the best combination of calm, clear weather and thinner crowds — daytime highs usually range from about 50–65°F (10–18°C) with cool nights around 30–40°F (-1–4°C). Lake conditions are often mirror-calm for fishing, photography and paddling, mosquitoes fade, and the alpine grasses and wetlands take on warm autumn tones. Because the campground closes late September, a visit in early-to-mid September gives peak fall character without losing access to full on Peak months: September, August, July, June Avoid: October, November, December, January
Early fall called best: cool days, calm mirror lake, fewer mosquitoes and great views.
