Best season: fall. Fall offers the most comfortable weather and the clearest conditions for lakeside recreation — expect daytime highs in the mid-60s to mid-70s F (18–24°C) and crisp nights in the 40s–50s F (4–12°C). Water remains pleasant for boating and fishing through October while humidity drops, making hiking the oak ridges and wildlife viewing especially rewarding as migratory birds pass through. Crowds thin compared with summer holiday weekends, so you’ll get quieter campsites and easier boat ramp access. F Peak months: October, September, May, April Avoid: November, December, January, February
Fall described as best conditions: cooler temps, lower humidity, scenic and less crowded.
