Best season: spring. Spring offers the best combination of mild weather and active lake/wildlife conditions — daytime highs are typically in the mid-50s to mid-70s°F (April–May), with cool nights. This is prime time for wildflower displays, migratory and nesting birds, early-season bass and crappie fishing, calm paddling and hiking before summer heat and crowds arrive. Expect lower to moderate visitation compared with summer, with full campground services reopening by April 1. Peak months: April, May, June, September Avoid: January, February, March
Spring (Apr–May) noted as best: mild temps, wildflowers and active fishing favored by reviewers.
