No horses means no real reason to be here over other Pine Ridge options. Stock water isn't guaranteed in dry months, so late-summer riders need to pack supplemental supply for their animals.
Compare with similar sites, watch availability, and build a packing list — Camp Sage handles all of it.
Best season: spring. Spring offers the best balance of mild weather, flowing stock water, and green trails — ideal for horseback camping and day rides on the Roberts Loop Trail. Expect daytime highs around 50–70°F (10–21°C) with cool nights, occasional rain/melt making some sections muddy early, and abundant wildflowers and fresh forage for stock. Crowds are generally low to moderate compared with summer, and fire danger is lower than in late summer, making it the peak time for comfortable, scenic equestrian outings Peak months: May, June, September, October Avoid: December, January, February
Spring called the best window: reliable stock water, green trails and peak wildflowers.
Three camp sites with tables and fire rings, an eight‑paddock corral system, rider ramp, and stock water (available weather permitting). The parking area includes one site with a table and fire ring intended for horse trailers or campers. Certified weed‑free hay is required.
