No potable water on site means you're hauling everything in. Bear canister or approved storage is required, not suggested, and the access road availability is seasonal enough that confirming conditions before leaving Augusta is worth a call.

Summer delivers the most reliable access and warmest conditions. Mid-June through August, daytime highs run 65 to 80°F with cool nights dropping into the 35 to 50°F range. Creeks become fishable and trails clear of snow during this window. Mosquitoes show up early in the season. Crowds stay low compared to better-known Montana campgrounds, but you'll need to stay alert for black bears and grizzlies, which remain active through summer and fall.
Mid-June–Aug best access; highs 65–80°F and creeks fishable by mid-summer.
