Go if

Families and boaters after a full-amenity lake base camp: rent a pontoon, hit the sand beach, and grab primitive site 44 for lakeside shade and privacy. Fall weekends in mid-to-late October deliver calm water, cool temps, and the best foliage the rolling hills offer.

Skip if

Light sleepers and anyone counting on shade will have a rough time, the Emerald Ash Borer has gutted tree cover across much of the campground, quiet hours go unenforced by most accounts, and some RV sites sit unlevel and packed close together.
